LUIS PUERTA´S PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION

JOSE ROS' PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION

José Ros es artista y Director-promotor de la Galería de Arte de Velez Blanco. La galería se encuentra en un hermoso edificio del siglo XVII que antiguamente fue una Iglesia. Actualmente, el edificio ha sido convertido en un contemporáneo templo de arte muy activo e importante para los artistas de Velez Blanco y su entorno. José estuvo en la presentación de PEACE ZONE Action en la Sala de Juntas del Ayuntamiento y fue una de las primeras personas en llevarse la plantilla. José designó el espacio de su Galería de Arte como lugar de paz y le estoy muy agradecido por ello y por la rápida colaboración y sensibilidad que prestó al proyecto. Gracias, José !!!

José Ros is a painter and Director- promoter of the Art Gallery in Velez Blanco. The art gallery is located in a beatiful building from the XVII century that was in the old times a catholic church. Nowadays, the place is a contemporary temple of art quite active in the local cultural life at Velez Blanco and its surroundings. José was at PEACE ZONE presentation at the City Hall and he was one of the first persons to collaborate with the project. José designated the space of his art gallery as a site of peace and I want to express my gratitude to him for his very fast support and sensibility to the project. Thanks again, José !!!

DIETMAR ROTH'S PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION

ZONA de PAZ de Dietmar Roth en las oficinas del Ayuntamiento de Velez Blanco. Ahora, el lugar de trabajo de Dietmar Roth ha sido designado como lugar de paz. Dietmar Roth es Teniente de Alcalde de la población de Velez Blanco y hombre de negocios; ha estudiado e investigado la larga y antigua historia de dicha población y, desde ahora en adelante, un promotor de la paz en su pueblo.

Dietmar Roth is Velez Blanco Major´s Assistant, he has studied and researched on Velez Blanco long History, he is a businessman and, from now onward,  a promoter of  Peace at his village.

PEACE ZONE Action was presented at Velez Blanco, Almeria, on July 20 th. 2011 at the Culture of Peace Seminar "Creating and Building Peace by Art and Architecture" organized by the Peace Studies and Conflicts Institute of  Granada University. Here we are Pablo Notario´s PEACE ZONE contribution. Pablo lives in Montoro, Cordoba. Raúl Barrio, a good friend of mine from Madrid, passed to him the PEACE ZONE graffiti stencil. Pablo did the graffiti at his bedroom. I guess at night all his dreams will be charged with a peaceful vibration. Thanks, Pablo !!! And sweet dreams !!!

MIRIAM SOBRINO´S PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION

There´s nothing better than inviting PEACE to your own house right on the threshold. An invitation helpful for the inhabitants of the house and for your neighbours as well. Thanks, Miriam !!! One PEACE ZONE on the doormat; it is going to be erased by the use, with the days and the footsteps of every individual invited to the house !!! Pobrably, it will ends up vanished, but every single person passing by or stepping on this PEACE ZONE will be an unnoticeable contributor to our action of peace !!! Nada mejor que invitar a la paz a entrar en tu propia casa justo en el umbral. Una invitación válida para los habitantes de esa casa y para los vecinos de enfrente también. Gracias, Miriam !!! LUCÍA RÍOS PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION

Lucía Ríos dreaming by her PEACE ZONE on the back of this huge dog. It is amazing how many animals have been invited to collaborate with PEACE ZONE Action !!! I guess, animals are closer to PEACE than humans. Or probably, individuals can easily afford PEACE through the presence of animals. May both possibities are real. I can imagine this huge black dog as a messenger of peace walking on the streets with the graffiti PEACE ZONE clearly visible on its back !!! Great help coming from animal life !!! Lucía Ríos duerme cerca de su zona de paz  realizada sobre el lomo de este gran perro. Es increible la cantidad de animales que han sido invitados a colaborar con PEACE ZONE Action !!! Creo que es porque los animales están más cerca de la paz que los humanos. O quizás, porque las personas pueden acceder a la paz con mayor facilidad por medio de la presencia de los animales. Probablemente ambas posibilidades son ciertas. Puedo imaginarme a este enorme perro negro haciendo de mensajero de la paz andando por las calles con su graffiti PEACE ZONE claramente visible sobre su espalda !!! GREGORI GALLEGO´S PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION

In fact, this graffiti seems to be done on the white wall of a class room... and above the graffiti it seems to be an small blue logo of Nike. Could it be at the Fine Arts School of Cuenca? Probably !!! Gregori is one of the students at that school. That´s good, another institutional space designated as a site of peace thanks to Gregori´s artistic conscious choice !!! De hecho, este graffiti parece estar hecho sobre la pared blanca de algún aula... y un poco más arriba parece que hay un pequeño logo de Nike. ¿Podría ser en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de Cuenca? Juan López Ibáñez is an artist and  he took the aluminum stencil PEACE ZONE at the presentation of the project at Sin Título Group Show in Madrid. He seemed to be quite aware  and engaged with the proposal. Here we are his second contribution to the project PEACE ZONE. Juan López did in collaboration with a friend a PEACE ZONE graffiti at the terrace of his appartment.

La cama de Ana Pocino ha sido designada artística y conscientemente como un lugar de paz  con su performático acto de palabra (speech act). MARIA ROJAS´ PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION 2

María Rojas after doing a PEACE ZONE graffiti on a wall, she did another on her back and climbed up to the roof of her house in Cuenca to watch the cityscape from there.

MARIA ROJAS´ PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION 1

María Rojas is a young art student at Cuenca Fine Arts School. She was invited to collaborate by Gabriel Perezzan. And here we are María embrancing her doggie in front of  a PEACE ZONE graffiti at the door of her house. It is great; this is the second dog collaborating at PEACE ZONE Action  along with their  owners. (See the other dog at Victor Jaenada´s Peace Zone Action contribution. Monday November 22 th. 2010) Thanks a lot María. It is a beautiful action !!!

COLEGIO ESPINAR´S PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION

This PEACE ZONE contribution has been sent by Colegio Espinar  in Cordoba through the special commitment of Angel Luis Pérez Villén. Angel Luis is a curator and art critic from Córdoba, Spain , and works also as a primary school teacher. I met him for the first time when he invited me to join a group show curated by him and titled The Rest (Superfluous and Utopics) on November 2009 at Puerta Nueva Art Gallery in Cordoba. Months later, I sent him some information about PEACE ZONE Action and inmediately he wanted to do it in collaboration with a group of young students. They did not have the aluminum graffiti stencil  PEACE ZONE but they managed to do by themselves a bigger graffiti on the white wall at their school´s playground. Actually, that place has been designated as a site of peace by a large group of  young students that use it everyday during the school hours. Angel Luis told me that he accuratedly explained  to the collaborators students the artistic nature of that PEACE ZONE graffiti on the wall. Every single child seemed to be quite identified with the action of having desiganated their place as a peaceful one. Great, great story !!! The pictures were taken by Tete Alvarez.

Esta contribución a PEACE ZONE Action ha sido enviada por el Colegio Espinar de Córdoba a través de la personal atención de Angel Luis Pérez Villén. Angel Luis es curator, crítico de arte y también  profesor en una Escuela de Primaria. Le conocí cuando me invitó a  participar en una exposición colectiva llamada El Resto (Superfluos y utópicos) presentada en noviembre de 2009 en la Sala Puerta Nueva de Córdoba. Tiempo después le mandé información de mi proyecto PEACE ZONE Action e inmediatamente me sugirió la idea de realizar un graffiti PEACE ZONE en el patio de su Escuela. Ni siquiera tenía la plantilla  de aluminio PEACE ZONE pero se las arregló para hacer un graffiti de tamaño un poco más grande bien visible en medio del patio de su escuela. Ese patio del Colegio Espinar de Córdoba es ahora una zona de paz reconocida por todos sus usuarios-estudiantes. Angel Luis me comentó que habían explicado con detenimiento a los chicos la idea y la naturaleza artística del proyecto PEACE ZONE. Todos  los chicos estaban  encantados  de haber designado el patio del recreo como un lugar de paz. Fantástico de verdad !!! Las imágenes han sido realizadas por Tete Alvarez.

Irene Márquez, thanks a lot for being an absolutely active part on this project. Irene bravely did her PEACE ZONE graffitis at the ticket office in Valdepeñas bullfighting  Arena. The rules were to do PEACE ZONE garffities exclusively at private indoor spaces... Anyhow, it is a great action, Irene !!! I cannot reject it. Thanks again.

GABRIEL PEREZZAN´S PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION

Gabriel Perezzan was at the presentation of PEACE ZONE Action in Madrid and was eager to collaborate with the project. Gabriel wanted to invite their students to be part of the proposal, so he passed his PEACE ZONE stencil among them and here we are some responses to that invitation. Gabriel Perezzan estuvo en la presentatción de PEACE ZONE Action en Madrid y estaba realmente interesado en colaborar con el proyecto. Gabriel me contó que quería hacer participes de la idea a algunos de sus estudiantes de arte en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Cuenca. JUAN CARLOS ESCUDERO´S PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION 2

 Juan Carlos Escudero, an artist and friend of mine who live in Barcelona told me that he finally found the perfect candicate to be part of PEACE ZONE Action as the next holder of the graffiti stencil. This person is his new roomate. Juan Carlos told me that she is a really polite and lovely person to live whith and share the house. So, Juan Carlos did specially for her another PEACE ZONE graffiti at the lobby of his apartment to designate his own house recently shared as a site of peace. Actually, Juan Carlos explained the project to this girl and she is going to be part of the action. A great story !!!

Juan Carlos Escudero, un amigo y artista que vive en Barcelona me ha comentado que ha encontrado a la persona idónea para pasarle la plantilla PEACE ZONE. Es su nueva inquilina. Me dice Juan Carlos que es una persona realmente amable y con la que es un placer compartir la casa. Así que Juan Carlos ha hecho un graffiti PEACE ZONE en la entrada de la casa y le ha pasado la placa para que ella participe también en la acción. Buena historia !!!

Nice picture at Juan López Ibáñez´s studio. During the presentation of PEACE ZONE Action at Madrid,  Juan  was frankly interested and sensitive to the proposal but, at the same time,  honestly aware of the responsability of being part of the project. Finally, and I am very happy for that, he decided to collaborate and here we are a beatiful picture of his own studio, now designated as a site of peace. Empty shelves full of  peace !!! Esta imagen es preciosa, Juan. Me encanta, de verdad. Recuerdo que durante la presentación del proyecto en Madrid, dudabas bastante si colaborar o no en la propuesta. Lo mas interesante es que no dudabas de manera banal sino por genuina conciencia y honestidad con respecto al proyecto. Finalmente, decidiste llevarte la placa, cosa que me alegra, y aquí está la imagen que has mandado de tu estudio, ahora designado como lugar de paz. RAUL BARRIO ROTARD´S PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION

Raúl Barrio Rotard, an artist and friend of mine from Madrid decided to designate as a zone of peace, one of the sites he enjoys the best at his house: his garden-terrace. Raúl told me that actually the plants are a little bit spiritless and weary, nevertheless he stated that it is a question of a couple of months to see them rebirthing again with all their strenght and beauty. 

Raúl Barrio Rotard, un amigo artista de Madrid decidió designar como lugar de paz uno de los espacios que más disfruta de su casa: su terraza-jardín. Raúl  me comentó que ahora en esta época del año las plantas andan algo tristes y debilitadas pero que es cuestión de esperar un par de meses a la llegada de la primavera para verlas resugir con toda su fuerza y belleza.

JUAN CARLOS ESCUDERO´S PEACE ZONE CONTRIBUTION

Juan Carlos Escudero is an artist and friend from the Basque Country actually living in Barcelona. Someone passed him a PEACE ZONE stencil. He sent this picture with some makeshift graffiti sentences by Sebastián Rosselló on the door: "Paint never die" and "Paint is not dead". I absolutely agree !!! Thanks guys !!! 

Juan Carlos Escudero es un amigo artista del País Vasco que vive en Barcelona. Alguien le pasó una plantilla PEACE ZONE. Juan Carlos ha mandado esta imagen con algunos frases grafiteras improvisadas de Sebastián Roselló (sobre la puerta). PEACE ZONE Action Madrid was presented at Sin Título Group Exhibition on February 4 th. 2011 and, actually, another 20 PEACE ZONE graffiti stencils have been distribuited to play the action around.
